Chris and Steve Rocks, or The Rocks Brothers as they have become better known, are a unique phenomenon in the art world. They work in a manner that would be unthinkable to most of us, in that every composition represents a full and equal collaboration between them. Their extraordinary working relationship becomes more understandable when we learn that they are twins who were born seven minutes apart.
Always extremely close, both chose to study art and as time passed they realised that they shared an uncannily similar style and that the images they were creating individually seemed to have come from the same place.
That the brothers share a talent is not surprising, but that their interpretation and inspiration is so attuned to one another is quite remarkable. When they decided to use their combined energy and creativity to produce a painting it was simply an experiment for them, but both found it to be an amazing experience; instead of cramping one another's style they found it was liberating to work together, and since embarking on this joint artistic enterprise, they have held hugely successful exhibitions in prestigious galleries all over the country.
