Michael Claxton
The simplicity of nature is a constant source of the inspiration for Michael's paintings, capturing the shifting light, tumbling clouds, crumbling rocks on the rolling hills, a crashing wave and the tranquillity of open spaces.
Michael's aim is to capture the essence of distant view, capturing the way light interacts with the landscape and nature.
The Peak District is often reflected in Michael's work as he regularly goes walking through the hills, taking as much in as possible of the ever changing landscape. Traveling around UK coastline is also a great love and inspiration.
Michael likes to work from memory, this gives him more freedom and expression and the ability to work using bold, open brush strokes alongside palette knife mark making, achieving rich textured paintings and creating more energy and emotion.
