Miguel Angel Núñez

Miguel Angel Núñez was born in Maldonado, Republic of Uruguay, in 1966. From a young age Miguel was fascinated by drawing and began studying the work of local painter, Manolo Lima. During this time he discovered his passion for art and decided he wanted to pursue a career as an artist. He spent every spare minute learning about art and techniques though could not find any opportunities to pursue his dream due to the home economy in Uruguay.

From 1985 to 1994 Miguel attended learning courses at the Municipal School of Visual Arts. Here he enjoyed lessons from Carlos Tonelli and Miguel Battegazore, the latter of which would later take Miguel as his student and teach him the techniques of hyper realism.

Miguel keeps a studious attitude to his talent, continuing to attend training schools and striving to develop his ability further. More recently he has enjoyed a scholarship for the Arauco Foundation in Madrid. Here he works alongside established teacher, Guillermo Muñoz Vera and artist, Antonio López. Since 1996 he has also taken up the position of professor at the Municipal School of Visual Arts.

Miguel has exhibited his works in numerous collective exhibitions throughout South America, the USA and Europe where his exquisite technique has garnered an avid following.
